Chapter 59 Phonebook Recycling
SaskTel invites you to participate in the Phonebook Recycling Program. SaskTel will refund 10 cents for each phonebook that is recycled on a school's behalf.
It's easy to participate!
Schools can:
- Recycle phonebooks within your school through your regular paper recycling process or by putting the phonebooks into local blue bins.
- Ask your students to recycle their phonebooks at home by putting them into local paper recycling facilities such as blue bins.
- Ask your corporate partners, local business, and other organizations to recycle their phonebooks on your behalf.
- Count the number of phonebooks recycled by all sources listed above.
SaskTel Pioneer volunteers will prepare a cheque and mail it to your school. The amount will be based on the number of phonebooks recycled: 10 cents per phonebook or $25.00 whichever is greater.
This program benefits both the environment and your shcool. It also provides an opportunity to teach your students about recycling. Salvaging one ton of paper saves about 12 trees. Last year, this program helped to recycle over 50 tons of paper. Old phonebooks are used to make things like new phonebooks, egg cartons, ceiling tiles, cereal boxes, and toilet paper.
Deadline for Regina is Oct 14, 2011.
